The smell of hot chocolate is a smell that takes me back to cold days full of fun plating in the snow at my grandmother's house. I grew up in southern California and had little experience with snow except at grandma's house. My brothers and I would play in the snow until we were numb then run inside and warm ourselves by the fire. Grandma always had some hot chocolate for us to warm us up.
